Honestly SHIP the bike. The TSA has a NASTY habit of screwing up bikes. My girlfriend's brother lost a carbon Trek due to damage caused by those jerkoffs. The liability clain is STILL in the pipeline and chances are he won't get full replacement value for it. The frame was gouged, the fork was actually BROKEN, the handlebars were cracked and most of the components were scratched all to hell. I will never trust those yardapes with any of my bikes as his isn't the only bike I've heard of being ruined by wannabe G-men
You'd be MUCH better off shipping it using DHL or UPS
