I'll let ya know if anything comes up.

I'm currently thinking this for my build. Most of the drivetrain parts are from a buddies 2002 Rockhopper. I ditched the Acera RD for a Deore XT I found at the coop though, and am using different shifters.

Kenda Kross + Tires (got them cheap & new @ the local coop, when I get $$ I'm thinking I want Schwalbe Big Apples).
An 8 speed triple shimano crankset. (Probably an acera or similar w/ cartridge BB)
8 speed Deore XT rear deraiuler.
Front deraiuler is yet to be found (the donor one has to large of a clamp)
Black Dia-Comp canti's I pulled off a donor bike with Kool Stop eagle 2 dual compound pads.
Dia Comp drop bar levers.
Moustache handlebar from Nashbar.
Ultegra 8 speed bar end shifters.
Cane Creek S2 black headset, 1".
Problem Solvers 1" to 1 1/8th Stem Shim
Nashbar MTB adjustable 100mm 1 1/8th Stem. (Using it to figure out proper positioning before I locate a better one)
Tektro 1" black cable hanger.
XT hubbed wheels with Wienmenn rims and DT swiss spokes. 8 speed rear.
Some random saddle from my parts pile.
Maybe a front basket for my dog.

If I don't like the moustache bar I have a trekking bar and a longer stem to try.

Thinking I want to use it for a lightweight park bike for running my dog, or going to the bars downtown. Nothing fancy.

IME, bikepedia is a wonderfully useful resource. However, we cannot expect it to be 100% accurate in terms of being thorough, or even always correct. Some colors may be missing, or attributed to the wrong model year. We also need to remember that manufacturers often switch spec in the middle of the year. This is esp true when transitioning between threaded and threadless headsets, as the frame can be identical. Basically, if you start 1996 with a 1" threaded bike, and you know you're switching to threadless soon, you're going to keep building the threaded version for as long as you have threaded forks, and not a moment longer.
Well I pulled the color for the 1994 and 1996 Rockhopper comp from the specialized catlogs from those years. I realize bikepedia isn't accurate on everything, but it's 1994 Rockhopper comp entry is the only one I found that lists STX components, which is what was on the frame when I pulled it out of the scrap pile.
