Brake issue

Help me out as I'm a little baffled. It seems my front brakes are consistently an issue for me. They always seem to sit closer to the rim on the right side (cable side) and when I release the brake lever the right pad hardly moves off the rim so that I have to reach down and manually pull the caliper away.

I've checked the mounting bolt to make sure it's not too tight and have made sure there was no unnecessary friction on the moving parts. It's consistent on Weinmann 405's, Modolo and Shimano calipers on three different bikes.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?
