I've been lurking around here for a couple of months and this thread seemed like a good one to post in. I started back riding after a thirty year break this past March. A friend got tired of lugging her 2002 Specialized Allez Triple around ever time she moved and gave it to me for helping her move so often. This started me back riding. After a couple of months I pulled out the 1972 Schwinn Varsity I bought lightly used from a school mate in early 1973 and started attempting to bring it back to life while working and riding as much as I could. Back in September I found a 1974 Raleigh Grand Prix that was being let go for a few bucks and bought it.

The Schwinn I'll probably keep forever, the Raleigh I'll keep until someone else wants it but I'm now hooked on old bikes and will continue to pick them up, try to bring them back to life and then turn them loose for as long as I'm able. Right now 60s and 70s models have my eye because those are the bikes I grew up with. Who knows where my attention may turn in the future though. I'm new at this.
