not really a poor mans bike.. you see the caad in crits on the regular.
by the time I add wheels my bike will be worth more than my car.
heh.. bad comparison.. I bought the car new and have been driving it for 11 years. but still... my point is it's not a poor mans bike. most of us have several thousads into our bikes even after initial bike purchase.
btw, am I like the only person on here with a RED caad9-4? I couldn't for the life of me find BBQ anywhere!!!!

I picked up my 2009 BBQ CAAD9-7 for $750.
IMO, even if one just purchases the frame for about that much, compared to the
bikes that it's usually compared to (mid-level Carbon rigs), it is far more affordable.
CAADs aren't compared to entry-level carbon bikes (which usually cost twice as much).
They are usually compared to better bikes than that.
$750. for a high quality aluminum frameset set is CHEAP!
The frames CAADs are compared to? $1,000.+ Cervelos
and The Van Dessel Hellafaster (about $850. frame only).
BMC's figure in there somewhere too.
But the CAAD is probably the most common crit bike among amateur racers.
