There are a bunch of ways to look for scholarships and grants. ROTC is probably the easiest. Go down to the recruiting office, sign up for service, work out the details and get the cash.
Assuming that you have no intention of serving your country after college, there are two kinds of scholarships or grants (for most purposes they are the same thing), need-based and merit-based. Need is based on your net worth and your parents net worth. Merit is based on your academic achievements so far. You can get one or the other or both.
As for sources, there are institutional, public, and private sources. Institutional sources come from the college or university that accepts you, which will award you a package as part of your financial aid application. For example, my son was awarded a Trustee's Scholarship at his university, good for 4 years as long as he maintains a 2.0 GPA. There are also public and private sources based on need and interest. There are literally thousands of sources. Figure out any connection that you and/or your family have to any organization that might provide money. Don't look at how much. Every little bit helps. Start at places like collegeboard.com and go from there. The info is all out there for you to find.
