I recently tuned up my old bianchi osprey mtn bike as my commuter. I replace the broken shifters with STX and swapped to a more road worthy tire. My issue (for lack of a better word) is a bent rims (both front and back) in the area where the tire meets and causing the brakes to be less than adequate. I was going to just replace the wheels and go on about my day but doing that made me want to add a disk brake on the front which I'm pretty sure would cause a fork replacement to have the mounting brackets.
Also I think the crank might be bent b/c there's some weirdness in the pedal stroke. So I thought about replacing that also. Wanting to do all this on a budget and make sure all the parts work together.
Bike really isn't worth alot so don't want to put a ton in it so definetly a budget build
I found
these wheels at bicycle wheel warehouse but I think they're only for disc brakes so I'd have to convert the back also, don't know if my frame can do that. Plus the added cost of an additional rear brake.
Found
this fork at bikeisland which seems to accomodate disk brakes in the front
Found an AVID disc brake kit on jenson or something for $50
would these work? Do i have cheaper options? just my commuter bike, doesn't have to be the bees knees. Trying to get out as frugal as possible
