New to clipless. Killing my ankles?

I have only had clipless for a couple weeks. Before i rode platforms for a couple years and around 9000 miles on my mountain bikes. After riding clips for 1 week i had a sudden pain in my left ankle one night and some slight swelling.

I soon ditched the clips and got clipless last week. Now last night i had a bone in the right inside of my foot/ankle that was killing me to walk on. I have never had any of these problems before. Is attaching my feet to the pedals killing my ankles?

Anyone else have these problems? I often see knee trouble attributed to clipless but what about ankles???
