I've been using Ultegra brakes since '99 and have been very happy with both the '99s and the 6500 series. Unfortunately, my new bike came with Tektro R580s, which feel much cheaper than either of my Ultegra setups. My primary concerns are modulation and stopping power. Also, and I realize this is going to sound stupid, the little cam to open the brakes for wheel changes. The Tektro mechanism feels cheap to me and every time I touch it I'm reminded of my dissatisfaction. Weight and price aren't an issue, within reason. I'm mostly concerned with functionality. Suggestions?
