i've actually gone the opposite direction. i'm just shy of 6'3", and when racing in the 80s rode 62cm c to c frames. i also had a 64cm Paramount training bike. at one point back then, i was forced to use a 59cm frame for a season, and didn't like the cramped fit with long seat post and extra long stem. but since coming back to cycling now, i'm riding comfortably on a 61cm Kona Kapu, a 61cm Grandis, and a 63cm Dawes Echelon. i also have an old Vista frame built up as a fixie, measuring 62cm. i've rethought the 62-64cm thing and now realize that my ideal size is a 61cm.
