Any LBS that is an authorized Shimano repair center/dealer should be able to do the recall work. My LBS was not Shimano authorized, but they went through the motions to do it. It look about 2-3 months for Shimano to do the paperwork. Chances are if your LBS is not Shimano authorized, there is another one nearby that is. Here is the
info on the recall directly from the Consumer Products Safety Commission. There is a number there for Shimano to call if you can't find a Shimano dealer. The recall involves replacing: Crank, bottom bracket, front derailleur & chain. The new cranks don't look as spiffy as the old ones, but they are functional. It's a nice way to get some new components on an old bike for free.
