One of the best back to back reads are "A Voyage for Madmen" and "The Long Way". Read them in that order.
"What is What" by David Eggers.
And if you like to read just bad ass prose, Raymond Chandler's Phillip Marlowe stuff is really top notch, Dasheill Hammet is also pretty cool.
Cat's cradle is the Ice 9 book right? I think I read that in high school. I went on a vonnegut binge then, and have read a few of his works since. I have timequake sitting on my bookshelf waiting to be read. I think I'm starting my next book this weekend or so when I sit down and finish this one.
