Hinda,

Australian rower, who has 3 Olympic gold medals and used to cycle a lot besides the rowing, after 2008 Olympics decided to try make Olympics with Australian cycling team. I'm not sure, but I think that he is already in Australian cycling team. He said that cycling helped him a lot during his rowing career. So, cycling is a definitely great sport.

I don't plan to compete in bike races, cuz its impossible to do both cycling and rowing on a high level. I just want to use cycling as a second practice. And you are right, I generally used cycling to train steady state, and I have a pretty good cycling base. I cycled 100k at avg speed of 37km/h almost every day during the summer and I think that is not bad for me, because cycling is not my primary sport. So, right now, I want to work on speed and power. Cycling makes me legs stronger and generally increases my steady state possibilities, and those are 2 most important things in rowing.

Any suggestions about speed and power workouts? And thank you for the answers.
