Three things at work here, I think.
- Joey and his clan are all really strong and fast riders.
- Joey used to commute through the Quarter, so there's your slower traffic, and
- the only speed limit signs I saw were 25 MPH.
Even I have no trouble keeping up with and passing traffic on 25 MPH streets. I replaced one 25 MPH street (Park Ave) on my commute with a parallel 30 MPH one (East Ave) because the car traffic on Park was slowing me down. Actually, it was the police cars waiting for me and pacing behind me that did it. I don't want any speeding tickets.
