To answer your first question, the reason one sells on eBay is to maximize one's profit. That should be obvious.
I suppose I was reacting to the "You should fit in here." part. I still don't understand why it's ok for a seller to maximize profit but somehow wrong for a buyer to minimize expenditure.

Hey OP, why don't you paste us the three auctions? I'd be interested to see.
