Late '80s Paramounts don't have a lot of "vintage" yet so that is part of the reason for a variation in price. Plus along with the Waterford built bikes, there were Asian imported Paramounts also on the market. IMO, this brings down the price. Also, IMO, this makes a very nice bike, more affordable! It's a win-win.
