check out Bilenky bikes. They will build you an S&S custom frame that will be perfect for you. Bike Fridays are nice, but you will miss your real ride. Ritchey frames are good, but try out the geometry in person if you can. I own/owned all 3. Hands down - Most happy with the Bilenky.
Right now the Surly Traveler's Check (Cross Check with S&S couplers) is being discontinued ... and while the frame is advertised at $1000-1200 ... I have heard about bike shop frame orders being discounted significantly. I went ahead and ordered one figuring it would cost less than a $500 frame + Bilenky modification. I believe that Surly will be continuing a frame with the S&S with a version of the LHT.
