this is why i don't crit race. I focus my racing on CX (grass is softer). I also maintain 2 health insurance plans, and pay monthly for short term disability that pays 70% of my typical rate. My wife wants to join a work indoor soccer team, i told her not until she finds some form of disability insurance. I am currently on my short term disability for an elective procedure, but could only imagine what troubles we would be in if i didn't have the STD ins, and i went down due to whatever illness or injury.

I cannot do my job at a desk and either can my wife, so even a sprained ankle puts either of us out of work (i am a PT in a brain injury unit, lots of heavy lifting, my wife is an emergency room PA). We have so many student loans right now that we have to pay monthly that we need both incomes.
