I guess I don't see the connection between the desire to be car free/car light and ones political leanings. All have arguments to be made for riding a bicycle more and using their cars (assuming they own one) less. For the liberal it may be a form of environmental activism, for the conservative it may be a means of becoming independent of foreign energy, for the libertarian it may be a form of removing government influence in their lives. Each has a horse in the race. I would suppose the reason one is CF/CL might be more telling as to their political inclinations than the fact that they are CF/CL.
