What got me started on touring was a manual called Two Wheeled Travel, which i read in the 1970s if I recall. before I took my world tour (the internet was in infancy then) I talked to alot of world touring folks thru email.

Now, as I do with my own www.cyclingscholar.com, I like to read websites about folks who took intermediate and world tours where

(1) they provide alot of pictures and commentary about their pictures;
(2) talk alot about their experience on the bike and with the people;
(3) answer questions addressed to them (if they have an email link) in a timely fashion.
