""" Also ebay only works if you are willing to ship, local pickup only on ebay is a bust. In that case, sell on Craigs List. But without knowing your location, no idea the best route to sell."""

Yes & no.

Right now eBay is offering free listings so it costs nothing to put a bike on with a "Buy It Now" price of 20% over your desired price (to cover the 12% eBay commissions & Paypal expenses if it sells) and no harm done.
If you are in the middle of nowhere you are out of luck with eBay unless you are willing to ship but if you just want to flip some parts or a whole bike and are near or in a metropolitan area with a vital bike culture (like New York, Los Angeles, or Toronto) and specify local pick-up you may pick up the one buyer you need without having to disassemble the crate the bike.

If you have something exotic & want a hot international auction then shipping really is a must.

Craigslist offers no "Buyer Protection" the way eBay & PayPal do and there have been rumours about some of the bargain bikes on Craigslist being not actually the rightful property of the person selling it...
