I tried polishing up my Heron Headbadge a while back and ended up with a stamped piece of copper colored metal with no paint left on it
polish carefully. The ones that are stamped and have some relief to them are a little harder to source in good condition. I've got a spare one of the later type which are just aluminum with the coloring screened on. if you want it for postage let me know.
