Could you experiment and keep us (well, me at least!) updated on this one? Do other sites (e.g. RideWithGPS) suffer the same fate?
The ability to store activities to card was something that interested me (I'm thinking 1000km, PBP etc, rides here - my 305 overwrites old data after around 600km). But it's a bit of a serious limitation if I can't then offload that data afterwards!
