When I converted my bike to fixed/single, I expected that I would ride them equally. But it turns out that I like fixed a lot more because of the feeling of control. While I was learning how to handle the bike with the fixed gear, I flipped the wheel almost daily. But after a week or two of that I have ridden on the fixed gear about 99% of the time. One day I flipped over to the freewheel to see if I felt stronger as a result of riding fixed for a while, but I was actually shakier on the SS because I was trying to resist the pedals and nothing was happening.
