Once I trained my wife to multiply the ride time I tell her by 50% and add it to come with an actual time we haven't had any problems.

For example, if I say, "I'm goin riding, be back in two hours," she multiplies 2 x. 50 to get 1 and adds that back to 2 to get 3 and knows I'll be back in three hours.
