Actually a nicer way to go (and will be really nice when Portola is not under construction is to take Bake to Irvine Blvd and then take Mojeska (across from the Marine Base) to Portola. Quiet road much nicer than Sand Canyon and you get to ride through the new part of Orchard/Portola Hills.
