because There's so much Vintage steel already out there. why waste the resources. I'm willing to bet there's a vintage bike that fits the purposes of the Cross Check for you just as well and you don't need to make anything new. New creates waste. Reusing old stuff is even better than recycling it. Plus its cheaper than a new Surly.

I'm headed off to drink whisky, have a smoke and grumble about disposable society. Everybody's gotta have it new, just so long as it looks old.
