Wow, $45 court costs, where are you? I paid that much in 1977! (My LAST ticket!)
It'd be laughable if it wasn't so sad (the imbalance of justice -- a ticket for running down a rider wouldn't add up to this in most places) -- my buddy got ticketed for expired tags, a $25 fine; by the time they got done laying the pipe to him, it cost $235! All the rest was COURT COSTS! He didn't do anything wrong, just got spotted for the tag (color-coded from year to year), pulled over, and written up. Nothing previous on his license, either.
It was itemized, too (so you can see how they defray costs for actual cases), with things like 'admin fees', clerk's time, DNA test, etc.
