+1

When I was a kid my parents used to buy me shoes at Payless. The would eff up my arches and wear out in a month anyway. I was in a mall and saw a pair of Nikes that I fell in love with and really wanted them. They were about $110, 20 years ago. My parents balked, but eventually I got them. I think my grandmother may have had something to do with it. Anyway, they were phenomenal, lasted several times longer than the cheap shoes (enough to make up the cost difference), and my feet felt much better. IIRC I didn't realize how effed up the Payless shoes were until I got the Nikes.

Not saying that cost always gets you quality, but quality always costs.
