I have considered adding an old steel road bike to my small fleet. Peugeot, Motobecane and Bianchi come to mind. But I would only be interested in a PX-10 or PY-10 Peugeot, Grand record or Le Champion Motobecane or an old Bianchi painted in Bianchi green. If they didn’t have any decals they would have to discount them enough so I could easily replace them. A UO-8 or 9 could be sanded and repainted and it wouldn’t matter much but I wouldn’t be as interested.
It is one thing to remove defective or damaged decals because you are fixing up an older bike but it is another to suggest we remove perfectly good ones and that somehow we will enjoy the bike more by doing so. One seems to have a practicle element the other doesn't.
