Well, I guess they came in different formats. You saw the before pic. You seemed to think that the brown foam was not original but I kind of thought it was. I think it may have come that way along with the safety levers.
I got it from the brother of the original owner who bought it new. From the looks of the bike, it was not ridden very much so I doubt anyone replaced anything on it. It still had the original tires on it but they were dry rotted. There was very little tread wear on the tires, they were aged but not worn out. It also looks like the bike was stored inside most if not all of the time.
I believe for several reasons that the way I got it was how it came from the bike shop when the seller's brother bought it back in 1984 or whenever.
