Thanks for replies guys. I know it's boring to deal with the same question over and over again.
Forks (Iron Horse) are definitely Judy TT. I did a visual check in the store. How are those disc brakes (Hayes)? Is the bike too cheap to have quality rotors? Should I look for something with a V-brake instead?
I could get a Specialized Hardrock (Acera front and rear, cheapie shifters, RST fork) or a Giant Rincon (Alivio f&r, cheapie shifters, SR Suntour XC60 fork) for the same price. Those 2 have V-brakes.
Has anyone ever heard of K2 Attack 3.0 full suspension (all Deore, Judy XC, disc brakes, 7000 aluminum)? It was discounted from $1,000 ($800 US) to $600 ($480 US).

I'm not a pro (obviously) so I won't be riding it all that much and all that hard. I just want a basic bike that I can take off-road with some confidence. Something better than Walmart has to offer. That's why I'm willing to spend around $500 ($400 US) not $200 ($160 US) on a piece of crap CCM that'll fall apart the second I take it off the pavement.
