Tights? Really?

Ok, I realize I am a noob to cycling. I have accepted all the good and the bad associated with the sport and the life style. I bought a mountain bike. I hit the local park for a good 13 to 20 mile ride daily. Excellent workout. I get a 30+ miler in once a week if I can and I live on this forum. I even have a bunch of co-workers asking about my rides daily and I have organized a bunch of us to do a century in April. And for a bunch of sedentary Air Traffic Controllers that is saying a lot. I have also spent a good amount on the required helmet, shoes, pedals, pump shorts, jerseys (a bit snug I might add) and so on.

So since the weather is getting a bit nippy it was suggested I get tights. So I did. Bibs. Are you kidding me? Hahahahahahaha! I look like Bruno Sanmartino. I mean it is not like I have a self esteem issue , what over weight middle aged fat guy does? I'm suppose to go outside wearing them? I tried them with a pair of shorts over them and I look like Punky Brewster, only larger, and as a dude.

I am not trying to be stylish, however, I was looking for a little less of the rodeo clown look.
