My riding outfit includes leg warmers, riding shorts, underarmour shirt, thick jersey, a light fleece and a windbreaker. I wear an ear band under my helmet. The outfit is good for 3 to 4 hours riding down to 20F to 25F, except when the wind is over 25. It helps if I slow down to decrease the wind effect of wind chill. I also spin a little faster to stay warm.
This was why I posted about two new materials a few weeks ago. There is a material called Pertex. Completely windproof---at any speed. The only properties it has is windproof- Completely breathable and light. In no way is it waterproof and it does not add any warmth except by retaining body heat generated.

Providing it is dry- this will be my topcoat in cold weather.

And looks like the end of the snow round here. Roads are very icy so still not many venturing out on the roads- in cars or on bikes. Exception is on the routes up to the hills. Plenty of MTB's on the way to some FUN. And 12" snow with an MTB is Fun. Or so they say.
