Good evening,
In the UK in the late 70s, early 80's mainstream cheap road bikes came wth 27 1/4 wheels with steel rims and hubs.
I saved up my paper round money to buy sprints/tubs, alloy rims/hubs and tubular tyres and when I put them on I was really saddened that I couldn't tell the difference!
As well as cycling I have an interest in Hi-Fi, again since I was at school, there has been a market for loadspeaker cable that claims to be unidirectional, it sounds better or worse depending upon the direction of the cable between the amp and the speaker.
If this is true then the electricty companies must be losing a fortune by running their cables the wrong way on average; try phoning them up and asking for the "direction" of their cables, then suggest that turning them round will save them money!
I see that you have been here a lot longer than me, so maybe you have been converted :-) tubs or hp (clichers) with similar dimensions are for all practical purposes the same thing.
Cycling is fun, don't let large companies convince you that today's widget is better.
Bye
Ian
