Why has this thread gone on for well over 100 posts? I suppose it must strike a nerve with some riders. I think it gets at the schism between sport/recreational riders and everyday cyclists. Sport riders like logo stickers not only on their bikes but on their clothing and on the motor vehicles they use to haul their bikes around. Everyday or utility riders tend to own unadorned bikes and wear dark hooded clothing, maybe with skulls on it but rarely with a corporate logo.
These are just stereotypes, but this thread suggests that there's a graim of truth behind the stereotypes.
You may be correct except I have yet to meet a Utility cyclists that hasn't been able to correct me on the fact they are riding a Big Dummy and not an ExtraCycle. They can tell me what trailer they have and why. Most know the manufacturer of their paniers better than I do bike tires. The utility logo is most often as you described, one of clothing style and logos that match.
