I'm considering getting a set of platform pedals for this bike. I already have a set of clipless on my old bike & I really want a nice platform pedal for when I'm just messing around with some local freeriding. That way I could just swap the pedals back & forth depending on where I'm riding. Haven't really decided yet, but if I go that route I'll get some advice from one of the DJ guys.
I have every faith that the LX is more than nice enough for me, but I just like the finish of the SLX better. If it was at its standard ~$180 price, I'd pass. But for $99 I'm sold. If that deal is gone when I get around to getting a crankset I'll definitely go with the LX.
My frame actually came with a headset. It says "Tioga" on the top of it. Never heard of it, but it'll do for now. If I have some money left in my budget when I have everything else, I'll splurge for a nicer one. Something as small as a headset doesn't top my list of things I want to sink more money into than necessary. Though that could be a foolish thought inspired by the fact that I don't really know what a headset is for.
