Most so called Pilates concentrates almost entirely on the core. A lot of core stabilization classes call themselves Pilates, whereas real pilates works the entire body with weird machines (one is called the Iron Maiden)

Most Yoga classes also work on breathing, flexibiltiy, balance, and relaxation in addition to core stabilization. Many poses also work on upper body endurance.

Incorrect. The classes around here have far more guys in the yoga classes than in the pilates classes (but the yoga is still probably 8:1 F:M)


I have done pilates variants for close to 15 years and find it incredibly boring. The skills used in yoga seem to help more in day to day life (the breathing particularly). I manage my stress much better since I started yoga. My balance has gotten better, as has my bike handling.

They both will help your back, and both "are pretty gay"
