You (and your wife/kids) are the judge of "quality of life". My apologies to any real estate agents on this forum, but as far as I can see they're about like travel agents; their profession is pretty much all but unnecessary today.
I've learned from a couple of rounds of house buying, that real estate agents--even the ones whom you've hired to found you a house--are all about the sale, not about you. I don't blame them for that, really, but it can be very frustrating when you're trying to get your needs met and are about to make the largest purchase of your life.
