Met a Schwinn flipper last night, guess what makes him the most $$...Varsities
Drove out to BFE last night to look at a chrome Voyageur, met a nice gentleman that flips Schwinns. He has middleweights (Typhoon class) and Varsities/Continetals. He says his big money is selling single speed converted Varsities and Contis, he gets ~$300 using Criags List. The buyers take the Metro out to his stop (~45 miles), he meets them with 4 SS bikes in his pick-up truck, they buy one and take the train back to the city. I was amazed that he could strip a Varsity, keep most of the stock parts including wheels and get that much for them. The EF Schwinns are hot with the college crowd. Maybe they want to ride their Dad's bike?
Bought the chrome Voyageur 11.8 with 2 wheels sets including Campy C-Record wheels, Dura-Ace 1st gen brakes and cranks for $250, LOL.
