i'm willing to bet that your mixte will clear 35s with fenders, running 700c. failing that, it'd definitely swallow 32s. Either way, for the rides you're describing, you can't go tooo far wrong. But, the 650b will cost considerably more, and possibly drop the bb too much. Borrow someone's 700c wheelset, and get a good visual for what you can cram in there.

I put the 650a wheels on it this morning and, eh -- it really does not look so good. I wouldn't want to use them anyway, they are old rusty steel rims. But it did a lot to convince me that 700c is probably the way to go. Starting this bicycle is banned until the Sports is rideable.
