Or a seat post mounted rack might serve your needs like this one but limited capacity (rated for 25lbs)

I would be tempted to cancel the order on the bike, but not without confirmation that it is not rack ready because I'm not certain about that.
If you aren't planning to carry a lot and you are willing to ride with a backpack, you might not need a rack at all, or just a small one like

Whew, though I messed up big time there. Thanks for the help. The LBS just called me back and confirmed the 2010 Quick 3 does have braze ons and is rack ready. Guess all the pics are from an early version according to what Cannondale told my LBS. Yea, I am kind of bummed about my bike. Had a hefty bike cable that was approx. 1/2 in dia. cable. Cut right thru it with some kind of cutters. The police said they now have hydraulic bolt cutters with carbide jaws. He said he had seen some cables with a loud alarm that went off as soon as the thing was disturbed at all. Said the cable was only about 1/8 inch thick. I guess you don't want to stick around with the noise is the theory there. In a way I'm glad it happened now, before I had all the accessories on it. Had insurance on it though. Glad I took the LBS advise and called my homeowners insurance company and took a rider on it. After making the claim I also learned you have to take a separate policy on the accessories if you want them insured as well. Will have 2 policies on the next one.
Had just parked it in front of ACE Hardware and locked it to a pole halfway between the entrance and exit doors. Store was pretty busy and was able to get a couple witness statements. One witness said they just simply pulled up next to it, hopped out and cut lock. Tossed bike in back of truck and left (10 - 15 seconds). She thought it was there bike, until she came out of the store and seen me standing there with my helmet in my hand. Store has no cameras outside. Just had a basic description of the two men and the truck. Doubt the police will recover it.
Was a little mad

when I was told it would be until March before I could get another 2010 CX Ultra. Looked at the CX-1. They would not move on the price of that one. They had a Q4 on the floor and I took it for a test ride. Was surprised on how good it felt. Softer ride than I expected with the carbon fork. It does not have the carbon seat stay. The LBS did a little research for me and found the 2010 Quick 3 in Grey for 760 bucks. I figured what the heck and ordered. Have scanned the threads here and not found to much on the quick 3. Hope it is a decent machine.
Well, short of tying a Pit Bull to the bike. How do you keep your bike safe?
