I'd go Ergo, it really is better stuff.
The only Ergo group I've used is the 10s Record on my Steve Potts. I have heard (mostly from posts from you, BBM and OFG) you don't lose much going down to Chorus. Any advice on other and older groups? I would be fine putting 8 or 9s on this bike if I could find it. I plan to keep it for a long time and once I have the finances I would like to get a complete new decal set made and hang the newest and best Campy on it.

Here is my short term plan: Buy a complete bike with 8-10s Campy group, swap my 8s tricolor group, and resell that bike for as close to I paid (or more) as possible and hopefully make the trade for free.

Any thoughts or advice on other Ergo groups (what to look for, what to avoid, etc. ) would be greatly appreciated.
