Where I live, those slushy/snow covered road salt infested days when I can't ride my road bike.
We can have weeks here where the roads are un-rideable.
I used cyling to help me loose 50 pounds two years ago...
edited to add; If relevant to OP, I am 6ft tall, went from 245 to 195 in a little over 3 months. Besides cycling, I kept my daily calorie intake to under 2300 calories a day. I no longer count calories but have kept up my hill riding and 2 yrs later am still at 195.
Don't remember if I mentioned it, I was 248 @ 5'9" myself and dropped to about 200 myself in a few months on a MTB.
Back then however, I was Roofing, so that helped me get down really quick along with the biking.
Going to buy a trainer on Wednesday to keep working out on the days that I can't ride.

No.
But I am talking too much about "the thread" instead of the "topic" right now with you.
(I'd rather talk about the topic of the thread now)
