Cold ride in at -10 C with a cold NW wind kicking up to 40 km/h. The roads are still a complete mess. The city dumped salt on everything and it has been too cold for it to be effective so everything is either slush or rutted ice. On the other hand I beat traffic on one section of road as all the cars got backed up due to a broken down transit bus. When I finally got to the MUP it was ploughed but not salted (thank heavens) and was able to steam in at a decent clip with the studs on the bike. The bad thing is that the rear derailleur froze and I had to go in riding a lower gear but I was still able to change chain rings up front. I brought the bike in after wiping it down to let it thaw out and I'll give it a good grease and oil job before it goes out again.
After this Friday I'm done commuting for a while... the wife is sending me in to get fixed...
Geez I wish the city didn't salt as a substitute for using the plough.
