It comes down to personal preference?

I was brazing on Tuesday, it was cold so I was wearing gloves. The torch was a J100 I think. Because my hand was above the valves, I kept bumping the valve with my gloved hand (I have big hands), throwing off my flame. It was at that point that I would have appreciated having valves above my hand rather than below.
