Reminds me of the time I showed my Mother in law that her whole grain "healthy" bread had more calories per slice than regular white flour counterpart. Blew her mind (it may have been tortillas now that i am thinking of it.)
Brown rice goes rancid more quickly so storage is an issue, which is why I think most places consume more white rice, which is more processed and has a longer shelf life.
Brown rice has only had the hulls removed, and has not been further processed, so it retains more nutrients. It's also more filling, and I happen to like the flavor and texture.

And "healthy" doesn't just mean "less calories". Whole grains have more nutrients and fiber.
