It's not so hard. If your terrain is such that you need a lower low than you can get with a standard 3-speed hub like an
AW, adding two cogs and a derailleur in back gives you what you need. At the same time, you retain the advantages of the IGH--the main one, in my opinion, being that you keep the ability to shift gears when stopped. Sure, it does add some complexity because now you have a derailleur, but how hard is that? We all know how to deal with derailleurs, right?
