'83 Cinelli Supercorsa attacks!

Shortly after my last PM this afternoon, my trusty Sony VAIO went to that great Computer Repository in the sky. It was sent there by this:

This used to be my computer room setup:

And this was the result of - somehow, someway - my Cinelli falling down from the top of the credenza and onto the laptop. I got a good clock on my noggin, too, but I feel okay. No damage to the Cinelli, but the VAIO's screen is toast:

I think the BB axle is what actually did the damage - here's a closeup showing the nick on the plastic where it hit. The pressure cracked the LCD:

So, I headed off to my friendly neighborhood Navy Exchange (NEX) and promptly purchased a new one. A little bit newer model, but pretty much the same. I just got it all hooked up and Mozilla Firefox downloaded but I still need to get my Office reloaded. I'm going to try to plug up the damaged one to an external monitor so I can get the small bit of data stored on it. Just a few pics and one or two documents; luckily I'd just backed up data to my external drive two days ago.

The newbie:

BTW, I had dusted the top of the credenza about a half-hour before the crash. I probably moved the frame a bit and it's my suspicion that I moved it right to the edge and didn't realize it. Just a little bump or something must have been all it needed.

Anybody have any similar experiences to relate? This was the first time I'd had an accident with one of my bikes when I haven't been riding it!

DD

PS: The picture showing the Cinelli still in it's original lofty perch was for illustration purposes only. It is no longer on top of the credenza but safely put away in a closet.
