I have been backed into, forced off the road and doored in the past as well. What is different about this event was how little warning I had and therefor did not see it coming. I swerved left and thank goodness it worked but it was reaction without thinking and very close.

It was part of my normal Queens ride which has large sections of bike lanes and trail. It was in a low density, low traffic area. I try to avoid peak traffic areas and ride of peak in those areas. That is what has me bothered if it was in Manhattan I might of felt that I was at risk.
